Instructors can prevent students from automatically having access to cloud recordings in Online Meetings. To do this, the host of the meetings will need to disable automatic recording sharing in their UVA Zoom account.
Note: This will disable all cloud recording sharing in your UVA Zoom account, including meetings outside of your UVACollab sites. You will need to manually enable sharing for cloud recordings you would like to share. Once sharing is enabled for a recording associated with a UVACollab site, it will become available to students in Online Meetings.
Scroll down to the Allow cloud recording sharing setting and slide the toggle to the left to turn it off. This will disable all of your future cloud recordings from becoming automatically available.
For FERPA security reasons: If you record a Zoom session to the cloud, we strongly recommend that you do not share the cloud recording link. Either use the automatic integration between Zoom and the Media Library or download the recording to your computer and upload the file into the Media Library.
Avoid hosting large meetings or public events using your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) for your meeting ID. Your PMI is basically one continuous meeting and you don't want trolls invading your personal virtual space. Instead, Information Technology Services suggests using random meeting IDs for your large meetings.

This may require you to distribute a new link or provide the passcode to your attendees.For example, if the existing Zoom link is and you edit this meeting to add a passcode to it. Hosting videos from the Zoom Cloud is a convient easy way to share cloud recording videos for the short term. Storage space is limited videos can not be stored on the Zoom Cloud indefintately. To preserve your videos you should download the video files directly from Zoom. If the meeting is being cloud recorded, it will only record the main room, regardless of what room the meeting host is in. If local recording is being used, it will record the room the participant who is recording is in. Multiple participants can record locally.
If you choose to record to the cloud in Zoom, your recording will be automatically moved to a folder named \"Meeting Recordings\" within your My Folder in UICapture. From there you can set up links between a specific Meeting ID (from Zoom) to a folder in Panopto. Do note, this is a 1:1 relationship. If you need to share a recording with more than one course we recommend sharing it with the UICapture External Tool in ICON. ( -Session)
The optimal solution for sharing Zoom meetings with students is through Kaltura because it is integrated into Canvas and has unlimited storage and other educational features. If Kaltura is having issues that prevent you from sharing your videos with students there are other alternative solutions. One alternative solution is to Record your video using Zoom, download the video, upload it to UAB Box, create a shared link, then place that link in Canvas.
Any Zoom Cloud recordings created between January 1, 2018 and September 4, 2020, are available on SharePoint until December 1, 2021. If you were the Zoom meeting/webinar host, you may access your recordings on the Zoom Cloud Recording SharePoint site (only accessible to users with files). Open your folder, labeled yourOnyen@email.unc.edu. The files for each Zoom cloud recording are organized into folders labeled with the date the meeting was held.
Another cheaper alternative is to use cloud storage solutions like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive. They are more affordable than Zoom cloud storage and offer easy integration to import recordings from Zoom.

Zoom is a centrally supported video conferencing solution available to university faculty, staff and students that enables you to meet, teach, and learn from anywhere. It is integrated with Canvas, and you can host and join meetings from your mobile device, desktop client or the web.
In response to the 365 day Zoom Cloud Storage retention schedule, ITS is temporarily offering bulk downloading of recordings for faculty and staff with large volumes of videos yet to be removed from the Zoom cloud. If you are unable to download your own cloud storage recordings on your local device, please submit a request to Zoom@utexas.edu, and we can help transfer files to your preferred online storage.
Zoom Cloud Recording is not intended for permanent storage of your recorded meetings. Columbia has a 30-day retention policy for any meetings that you record in the cloud. You must download your recording if you would like to retain it.
LionMail users can download your cloud recording and upload it to Google Drive, which has unlimited space. This is also a good option if you would like to share the recording with others (they will have to download the recording to view it).
CUIT uses Panopto's video hosting and streaming service to retain instructional recordings. As of April 30, 2020, all course-related recordings stored in the Zoom cloud will automatically be moved to the instructor's Panopto account for permanent storage.
After you select stop, a pop-up will appear asking to confirm you want to stop. Click Yes if you are done. Depending on the length of the recording, you will receive an email notification in a few minutes (or hours) to let you know when the cloud recording is available to access.
